Fitness
There are three components of total
fitness. Aerobic activity, strength
training and third one that's most
often forgotten is flexibility. It
is perhaps the most ignored and misused
component of fitness. You need to
include a flexibility routine in your
schedule to get the most out of your
workouts. The benefits of stretching
go beyond simply increasing flexibility.
Stretching can make you feel more
relaxed by reducing muscle tension.
It can also promote circulation and
prevent muscle strains, and prevent
and even cure certain types of back
pain.
Flexibility is defined as the range
of motion possible around a joint.
Like muscle strength and endurance,
flexibility level is specific to each
joint and it's surrounding muscles
to receive full range of motion. Stretching
to increase your flexibility elongates
your muscles, improves your muscle
balance and betters your overall muscle
function.
As the benefits of flexibility exercise
become more apparent, the education
and training of proper flexibility
is a significant part of a healthy
and fit lifestyle. Stretching will
improve the ability to perform activities
of daily living, increase mind/body
connection and help to decrease stress.
Give yourself ten minutes three to
four times a week to perform a stretching
routine. Stick with your flexibility
training on a regular basic to help
keep you limber as well as calm you
down after a hectic day. The good
news is stretching will make you feel
so good that you will take the time
to incorporate stretching into your
daily schedule for a healthy lifestyle
no matter how busy you are!
